Ōtepoti Dunedin Heritage Festival 2023 - Dates Announced

This year's festival will take place from Thursday October 5 - Sunday 15 October, celebrating all aspects of Ōtepoti Dunedin’s growing heritage, and the remarkable transformations that have shaped our city over time. Explore stunning historic gardens and heritage buildings, and learn about how they have been preserved, restored and repurposed. Enjoy an evening of rapid-fire storytelling presented by local experts, or immerse yourself in archival films showing how our city and landscapes have evolved over the past hundred years. Dress up for a vintage family picnic in the gardens, or help to showcase our city’s unique historic buildings by entering our photo competition. Create a heritage Minecraft world, learn how to share stories through Wikipedia, or take a virtual journey into the subterranean architecture of Dunedin’s past. There will be a range of free and ticketed events, performances and workshops. Keep an eye out for our programme, which will be launched in September. We are currently seeking volunteers to help us run a variety of walking tours, exhibitions and talks during the Festival. If you are interested in being involved, please register your interest and we will be in touch.
