Dominican Priory tour 2026
Some photos from one of our recent annual tours of the 1871 Dominican Priory. It served both as a home for nuns and was also a boarding school and dormitories for children from the age of five to live and learn there.
Our tour guide Sean showed us the printed impressions of what the building could look like in the future. The wish of the Catholic Diocese is to allow the building for community use so it has function in the city. It was evident that since the roof was fully restored in 2018, the interiors have dried out and there is no smell of mustiness or damp with large windows allowing sun and plenty of light. The Hanging Stairway is always a marvel of engineering and something that amazes all visitors.
Thank you Sean for this very interesting tour.
