The History and Future of Quarantine Island's Married Quarters
Time & Location
About the Event
The Married Quarters building is the last remaining building from the quarantine station that served the Otago community, 1860-1920. Left to fall into disrepair, the building was saved and restored by the Quarantine Island/Kamau Taurua community. Hear about the dedication, resilience and vision of the building's restoration, and how it serves the community today.
The event is FREE, but you will have to book (and pay for) your transport to the island with Port to Port Cruises.
Please call them on 020 416 24250 to book and arrange transfers to the island from Portobello or Back Beach, Port Chalmers. The transfers are $24 per adult and $12 per child.
