Archaeology in New Zealand: the Archaeology of Old Buildings
21 Oct 2024, 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Community Gallery, 26 Princes Street, Central Dunedin, Dunedin 9016, New Zealand
Tonight, Victoria Ross and Dr Dawn Cropper of New Zealand Heritage Properties Ltd speak on 'Archaeology in New Zealand: the Archaeology of Old Buildings'.
Archaeology in New Zealand is defined as anything modified or used by humans prior to the year 1900, including not just early Māori ovens or the remains of the gold mines in Central Otago, but also the buildings that early New Zealanders lived and worked in. The speakers will give you an introduction to their jobs as archaeologists and the recording of heritage buildings, before showing some of their favourite stories and buildings.
