22 Royal Terrace House Tours

Explore the 1879 home of the Hudsons, the first chocolatiers in the Southern Hemisphere. This is a Grade 1 Heritage House with many original features.

The tour covers both floors of the building plus the basement, which is currently being renovated. Experience the architecture that fitted large  servants’ quarters within the Family’s gracious home in the nineteenth century. See how the grand house is preserved now and lived in by a totally different community, the Dhargyey Buddhist Centre, which has flourished here for the last 40 years.

Also available is a self-guided tour booklet of Royal Terrace for $5. This covers many fascinating details of the Terrace, the buildings, and their inhabitants since the first house appeared in the 1850s.

Tours will run at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
