The Dunedin Gasworks Museum is situated in the Engine House of the now defunct Dunedin Gasworks which was New Zealand’s first and last gasworks, operating from 1863 until 1987. It is one of only three known preserved gasworks museums in the world.

The museum is located at 20 Braemar Street, South Dunedin (near the South Dunedin Warehouse and Pak'n'Save), and is open on the first Sunday of each month, 12:00pm - 4:00pm, admission by gold coin donation.

Sir Neil Cossons, Chairman of English Heritage will be hosted by the Southern Heritage Trust in Dunedin in July 2007. As a world authority on industrial heritage he will assist the Gasworks Museum Trust in achieving its task of long term sustainability.

Tuesday July 24 2007 promotional gala evening will include a fund raising art auction "Dunedin by Gaslight", organised by the Salisbury House Gallery.

The museum is situated in and around the Engine House of the original gasworks, which was a much larger complex when it was operating.
